How we work together
1. We get to know each other at your free consultation
Your birth is an intimate event, and inviting someone onto your birth team takes trust and comfortability. In order to determine that we would be a great fit to work together, we spend some time getting to know each other, talking about your birth goals, concerns, and answering any questions you may have for me.
2. We meet for two prenatal appointments
During these appointments we will discuss your birth preferences, create a tailored plan together, and discuss in detail any questions, concerns, or fears you have around your birth. We will develop strategies to help eliminate potential fears with knowledge and intentional goal-setting and build trust in the birthing process with education and information. I will demonstrate comfort measures for you and a partner, if applicable, for early labor relief.
3. I support you during your pregnancy, labor, & birth
Once you've hired me, I am on call for your labor starting at 38 weeks. You also have access to text, email, phone and/or video messaging support from me for any questions, concerns or anything else you may need. I attend your birth, support you during your labor, and stay with you immediately postpartum until feeding and bonding has been established.
Details & Such
1. Complimentary Consultation
This complimentary meeting is a chance for us to meet, for you to learn more about my support services, to answer any questions you may have, and to determine if we are a compatible fit for each other. I recognize that inviting someone into your birth space requires mutual comfortability and trust for such a sacred event. At this meeting, the goal is to ensure that working together would be a wonderful addition to your birth experience.
2. Prenatal Session No. 1
At this session, we will go over your options for labor and the choices you have to create the best birth experience as determined by you! As the birthing person, how you feel about your birth is just as important as the outcome of your birth. You are much more inclined to feel empowered and supported after the birth process when you’re able to set intentions for your birth in a way that feels good to you. During this session I’ll help walk you through your options, create a birth preferences sheet with you, and provide tools to help you feel empowered and confident to advocate for your wishes in your birth. We’ll also develop strategies to help eliminate potential fears with knowledge and intentional goal-setting and build trust in the birthing process with education and information.
3. Prenatal Session No. 2
At this session, we’ll discuss the stages and phases of labor and what to expect during each one. Knowledge is power, and knowing how you and your baby work together during labor is a powerful tool to have for your body and mind. During this time, I’ll also demonstrate comfort measures for you and a partner, if applicable, for early labor relief. These comfort measures are another tool to have in your labor tool belt that will help ease fear of the unknown and empower you to work with your body, not against it, during labor.
4. Communication
As my client, you will have text, e-mail, call, and/or video support throughout your pregnancy during normal business hours. You will receive 24 hour on-call phone and text support starting at 38 weeks until the birth of your baby.
5. During labor & birth
Once you've hired me, I am on call for your labor starting at 38 weeks. I attend your birth virtually providing immediate support via text, phone, or video depending on your desired preference. I will stay with you virtually immediately postpartum until feeding and bonding has been established.
6. Postpartum check-in
Following your labor, I will check in with you the next few days to answer any questions you may have, help you process your birth, and assist you now that baby is home! You’re welcome to reach out to me during this time for added informational and emotional support. Those first days home are a huge transition! At one week postpartum, we will schedule a 1 hour video check-in to explore in-depth your recovery, your emotional well-being, and to cover any topics you’d like to discuss or process.
